Manulife Myanmar launches new plan to protect customers against the financial burden caused by critical illness

January 28, 2022

Yangon, Myanmar – Manulife Myanmar today announced the launch of a new Manulife Critical Illness Care rider plan to help protect Myanmar customers and families against the financial burden brought on by critical illnesses. This rider can be attached to a base plan like the Manulife Protector life insurance plan.

As part of Manulife’s focus to empower sustained health and wellbeing, this new rider plan supports the objective of making healthier behaviour choices easier and more accessible for people throughout Myanmar. The rider, together with the base plan, protects customers not only against death, total and permanent disability, but also from high medical costs and loss of income in the event of life-threatening critical illness, with a goal of reducing financial pressure on family members, so the insured can focus on recovery and getting better.

"Helping Myanmar families better secure their financial future, especially in the unfortunate event of critical illness, is a commitment we've made to the people of Myanmar," said Robert Elliott, Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Myanmar. "At Manulife, we are here to serve the insurance and financial needs of Myanmar families. We do this by offering insurance solutions that protect our customers at every stage of their lives, while providing them and their families peace of mind."

Manulife Critical Illness Care provides a cost-effective solution to cover high treatment costs associated with critical illnesses, while also addressing concerns over loss of income through its “waiver of premium” benefit. When a major critical illness benefit is paid, all future premiums for the basic plan will be waived. For qualifying taxpayers, the premium paid is also tax deductible.

The policy provides financial support for the treatment of the following critical illnesses: major cancer, major stroke, heart attack, coronary artery bypass surgery, open surgery to aorta, end-stage lung disease, end-stage liver failure, kidney failure and major organ transplant, such as heart, liver, lung, kidney, and pancreas.

Manulife Critical Illness Care is now available, together with Manulife Protector, at our partner bank branches and through Manulife agents. The product information in this press release does not contain the full terms and conditions of the product and is for reference only.  For more information, please call the Manulife Myanmar’s customer care team at 09 765 467 100, email Customer_Service_MM@manulife.com, or visit: https://www.manulife.com.mm/en/products.html for more details.
