August 6, 2020

Yangon, Myanmar – Manulife Myanmar today launched its first major outdoor marketing campaign with the rebranding of the Yangon railroad building owned by Myanma Railway where located in the Yangon Central Railway Station compound in Mingala Taung Nyunt. The campaign marks the start of the company’s drive to increase Manulife’s brand awareness and strengthen its presence in the country.

Sporting a fresh green look, the rebranded Yangon railroad building is highly visible along the Pansodan flyover. The building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in downtown Yangon. Completed in the 1950s as an extension of the centuries-old Yangon Central Railway station, the building is currently being used as an office for the train station’s staff.

“It is a privilege to be able to establish Manulife’s presence at the heart of Yangon,” said Robert Elliott, Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Myanmar. “At Manulife, we are committed to becoming the trusted insurance partner of Myanmar people and families to help them to build stronger financial futures and make their lives better every day. We are excited to help this young and dynamic market better understand and appreciate the value of insurance. This marketing campaign is our first major step to re-introduce what Manulife can do for to the people and families of Myanmar.”

Manulife has a long history in Myanmar. The insurer sold its very first insurance policy in the country in November of 1903, and it was a pioneer and active leader in shaping Myanmar’s insurance industry until World War II in the 1942s. Manulife re-entered Myanmar with a representative office in 2014, and it was among the first foreign insurers granted a license to operate in the country in 2019.
