Manulife Myanmar donates oxygen concentrators and medical equipment to support the country’s COVID-19 response

Yangon, Myanmar – Manulife Myanmar has donated 43 million kyats worth of oxygen concentrators and related medical equipment to Myanmar’s Ministry of Health and Sports in support of the country’s response to COVID-19. The donation ceremony was held at the Department of Medical Research (Myanmar) in Yangon attended by its Director General and senior officials and Manulife Myanmar’s senior management team on 8 January 2021. 

The medical equipment are part of the essential supplies needed for treating COVID-19 patients in hospitals, which include 28 oxygen concentrators, eight syringe pumps, 3,000 oxygen pipe with masks, 100 HEPA filters for oxygen concentrators and 50 oxygen concentrator filters for maintenance.  

Mr. Robert Elliott, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Manulife Myanmar said, “We are committed to protect Myanmar families and provide a better future for them within the communities that we serve. To better support Myanmar’s public healthcare system, the donation of medical equipment items today is a further demonstration of Manulife’s dedication to bolster the national response to COVID-19. We also express our gratitude to healthcare heroes and medical staffs around the country, as we help to ensure they are protected while they provide care for patients in need.”  

In 2020, Manulife Myanmar also donated 500 PPE gowns, worth over 14 million kyats, which were provided to Myanmar’s Central Medical Stores Department of the Ministry of Health & Sports during the outbreak.
